Alice in Wonderland (1903)

I recently heard that the BFI National Archive has restored the 1903 version of Alice in Wonderland, directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow. It was written by Cecil M. Hepworth. It was originally twelve minutes long, but the remaining footage clocks in at a little bit over eight minutes. It tells the condensed version of Lewis Carroll’s novel about the adventures of Alice (May Clark) venturing into fantasy world filled such memorable characters like The Mad Hatter and Fish by Norman Whitten, Frog (Cecil M. Hepworth), White Rabbit and Queen played by the director’s wife, Mrs. Hempworth.

You could watch this movie on The Auteurs or find it on YouTube.

Judgment: I liked the film. I wondered how some the effects happened.
