Mr. Woodcock (2007)

Could I get a real bottle, please? I’m an alcoholic, not a Barbie doll.

— Maggie Hoffman

While on vacation a couple of weeks ago for Juneteenth, my older brother wanted to watch Mr. Woodcock on HBO. I couldn’t talk about the movie until now. He fell asleep during the movie, which should have told me something. The movie was okay.

The movie is about a self-help guru, John Farley (Seann William Scott) who comes back to his small town to stop the wedding of his mother, Beverly (Susan Sarandon) and the gym teacher from hell, Mr. Woodcock (Billy Bob Thorton).

There is nothing special about this movie. Lots of sexual innuendos, slapstick humor and lots of corn eating.

Judgment: It is a forgettable movie that needs to be avoided at all costs.

Rating: **1/2
