Hulk Vs (2009)

My name is Wolverine. I’m the best there is at what I do. But what I do isn’t very nice.

— Wolverine

After I was utterly disappointed with Wolverine, I wanted to check out some other Marvel properties. Earlier this year the animated collection, Hulk Vs, came out on DVD, exclusively at Wal-Mart. I wanted to check it out. There is one movie that was decent and other that was very good.

The first segment deals with Hulk fighting Thor. If anybody knows anything about Norse legend, Thor is the son of Odin and his stepbrother, Loki wants to deal him in. Odin is asleep and his enemies wants to overthrow Asgard forces. Loki captures Bruce Banner to separate his soul from The Hulk with the help of Amora, Thor’s once love interest. Loki sends the Hulk to destroy everything Asgardian. That’s it. The story is rail thin. There is not substance to it. Only “Hulk Smash”, Hulk pummeling Thor and him yelling. Ooh, gripping.

The second segment deals with Hulk fighting Wolverine. This takes place in the Weapon X era, a world that Sabretooth and Wolverine are not brothers. Logan is recruited by the Canadian government to stop Hulk from destroying anymore towns then he already had. This portion dealt more with Wolverine and the Weapon X program than his fight with Hulk. There is the mad scientist that gave Wolverine the adamantium skeleton. He is surrounded by Deadpool, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike and Omega Red. This portion was infinitely better, but Deadpool bothered me. I don’t know why. I know that he is supposed to be “The Merc with the Mouth”, but it got on my nerves after a while.

Judgment: This is a good rental for Marvel fans.

Rating: Hulk vs Thor **            Hulk vs Wolverine ***1/2
