To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar (1995)

The damn daylight savings time is screwing up my internal clock. Another movie viewing at the crack of dawn.

I caught this film a couple of times in rotation on HBO. “To Wong Foo” is about Miss Vida Boheme (Patrick Swayze), Noxzema Jackson (Wesley Snipes) and Chi Chi Rodriguez (John Leguizamo) at a New York drag competition. Vida and Noxzema win the contest and a trip to Los Angeles to compete in the Drag Queen of America contest. They take Chi Chi with them.

During the cross-country trip in a broken down Cadillac, when they traded their first class tickets, a cop pulls them over Sheriff Dollard (Chris Penn). He tries to feels up Vida’s skirt and decks him. She thinks she killed him.

Their car breaks down near a town, Snydersville. The habitants of town are unaware they are drag queens. Hilarity ensues. The town is changed forever for having the trio there.

This film teaches you about strength of character. I love this film, but I had trouble with the ending. It’s funny. I love it. Swayze looked good in drag, Wesley not so much.
