Atonement (2007)

This was one of the Best Picture nominees from last year. “Atonement” tells the story of a young girl witnessing an adult act that she doesn’t understand and has James McAvoy’s character arrested. He either goes to war or send time in jail. This messes him up and ruins the lives of Celia (Keira Knighley) and him. She carries it until she is older.

Everybody knows that the book is always better than the movie. I have to say that the movie could have trimmed the fat. I don’t need awkward periods of silence where there is nothing happening during that time.

I really hate these stories about lost love and war and the women waiting for the men to come back from the war. I have to feelings with “Cold Mountain” with the whole “Odyssey” plot done over and over again. Boring. Next.
