Iron Man (2008)

I was probably one of a handful of people that did not see “Iron Man” when it broke box office records earlier this summer. I was saving my money for “Sex and the City” and “The Dark Knight.” My bad.

All I have to say about this movie is “fuck yeah!” I’m not giving anything away because it was shown on the trailer and billon people watched it around the world. I won’t bore you with the plot.

Robert Downey, Jr is a fantastic, billionaire playboy/scientific genius Tony Stark. I love that he is a man with a lot of heart, but he can be a wiseass with a quick quip. Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard were good for what they were given. I hope the sequel would expand their roles.

The special effects are so awesome. It was cool. I’m getting all giddy like a little kid. This movie appeals to the little kid in all of us. I think that Jon Faverau is a genius as well. Sometimes, a superhero movie would lose that spark from the translation of comic pages to the silver screen, but he has delivered that on a silver platter.

I have one question to ask; doesn’t that suit weigh over 100 pounds? He is Iron Man afterall. I was just wondering.

With any Marvel movie, Stan Lee has to make an appearance. It must be a stipulation whenever a Marvel comic has been adapted like “Iron Man” or “Spider Man”.

The downside with the movie is that I should have seen it at the theater. I know that the action would have been so much cooler on the big screen than in a smaller medium.

I want you to step away from your computer, get in your car, go to your local video store and get this movie. Period.
